Upcountry History Museum

While southeastern South Carolina was founded on large plantations worked by slaves, the economy of  northwestern South Carolina depended on small farms and trade. The museum covers events in Upcountry history with life size scenes depicting life from the 1700s frontier days through the 20th century and the growth of the textile industry. Race relations after the Civil War and during the 1960s are touched on in smaller exhibits.  Changing exhibits included D-Day and a wonderful display of small quilts featuring 400 years of African Americans in the western states.
The museum is accessible. The ramp to the D-Day exhibit is dangerously steep.

The parking lot is on the east side of the museum. RVs will fit if pull through the spaces or parked lengthwise across the spaces.  Museum  34.85735, -82.40283
