Catch up once again, Special gift for me, Joe heads for Alaska
A special gift from Stacey, Joe, Rylee and Susan πTuesday morning I set the alarm for 0530 but I was awake anyway. The bed was comfy, but just not home.
Got ourselves ready and about 0740 we had our hard boiled eggs with an english muffin in the room. I brought the toaster from home, as the "continental breakfast" isn't being served because of covid. Some hotels still do it as a bagged take out, but not this one.
Saying goodbye to Adam last time he was here at the end of his trip!We had some cool looking skies, but no weather from it..
0800 we were on the road for the 40 minute drive or so to Reno Diagnostics. Ken waited in the car and I went in. In and done in just a few minutes. I waited while they got the radiologist to review the mammogram and in a few minutes after a thumbs up I was on my way to the car.
Because we live 2 hours away they do this as a courtesy which is nice.
We left there and then headed towards Gardnerville and Raley's to pick up one of Ken's prescriptions that had been filled.
We headed towards home thinking we'd have a linner at El Superior Mexican, but getting to town about 1230 we found them closed on Tuesdays..darn. El Ateno, closed too. Oh well, Dini's it is. We got there about 1245 and the place was packed! Nice to see but we went home and unloaded and then back to town. Just a few people at 1330 the way we like it for service.
Joe left yesterday for Alaska. Stopping in Oregeon to see his son first.Joe pulling the trailer with the dredge for mining in Alaska..Safe trip Joe!
I ordered their Western Chicken Sandwich (I took it off the roll so no bread) huge and yummy 1/2 came home with me. Garden salad on the side. Ken had their turkey breast sandwich and fries. Yummy too. One reason we like this place, the food is consistently awesome!
So yummy even without the bread!Home after that and because of the wind we stayed inside and watched a couple of movies and then to bed.
Wednesday morning the alarm went off at 0530 and I was awake but just enjoying laying there. Coffees, blog reading and now time to see what the day holds.
Of course since I didn't blog I have no idea what we did Wednesday..LOL..
Thursday we were having a good bye barbecue for Joe as he was going to leave on Friday. Plans changed and he's leaving this (Saturday) morning instead.
Ran to Raley's to pick up some stuff we needed. Kept it simple, burgers, hot links, hot dogs, tater tots, and coleslaw.
Joe, Stacey, Susan and Karen came out around 1700. We visited and Ken cooked. WE saw an appearance of Rylee but not for long..LOL. Karen's granddaughter Sophia was here for awhile too. I took no pictures (bad girl). Some friends, Jason and Billie stopped by to say good bye. Later, another friend of his, Waylon visited and had a burger too.
Friday morning Joe had breakfast with us. He finished up what he needed to do during the day, so he will be ready to head out Saturday. He'll be back June 9th to pick up the rest of his family and head to Alaska for their new adventure. ππ
The first year our snowball bush is blooming...Stole this from FB..Seth was out in the field for a few weeks. 1st row standing on the left..π
Seth and his fiancee, Hollyπ
Ken and I spent some time in Hawthorne, NV on Saturday for their Armed Forces Day Parade and fun. We were there two years ago and it was so much fun. Hawthorne is a very patriotic small town! The next blog will be about that!
This used to be the largest flag in Nevada, until Camping World in Reno beat it outLooks like we'll be leaving Monday to head for Ely, NV and pick up the new log splitter.
I don't want to say too much yet, but keeping my sister Wendy and her husband Shawn in our prayers as they deal with some health issues regarding Shawn. π
Thursday morning we got word that my 2nd cousin Becky was killed in an accident in KS. The vehicle she was riding in hit a semi truck and flipped. She was the only fatality and not wearing a seat belt, she was only 41. She leaves behind a teenaged son, Ian who wasn't with her thankfully and now will be living with Becky's sister. Thoughts and prayers to the family as they deal with this loss.
Have a wonderful Sunday.
