Navy cancels audiences for graduation! Change of plans, instead of Great Lakes its Pensacola!

Hi everyone!  Well, to get the rant over before going on to the good stuff.  Yesterday (Monday) I finally made my car reservations for my drive to Great Lakes, Ill and Jacob's Navy graduation from Boot Camp.  We've all been looking forward to this huge milestone in his life! 9 long weeks...Ken and I were getting ready to head for Walmart and a little running around here in Cornersville, TN.  I'm sitting in the truck, looking at FB and discover the Navy put out a memo cancelling audiences at graduation!! WHAT! On top of that the new Sailors get no liberty!!! What the Heck!! Needless to say I started texting Russell! Well, in all their infinite wisdom because of concerns about the Coronavirus (even though not one sailor or staff member has any signs) they've cancelled this one and other ones until further notice!  Well, lets not get me started on this virus, but Saturday morning Jacob and many other Sailors will be transported to Chicago O'Hare airport, the 3rd busiest airport in the US.  Then he will be put on a plane with lots of other people.  But let's cancel the biggest moment so far in these young people's lives!!
Can't wait to see our Sailor!

Long story short, after hustling to cancel and rebook flights Russell and family, including Allissa will be flying out of Sacramento to New Orleans and driving into Pensacola on Thursday. They are hoping to be there to welcome Jacob and others at the airport on Saturday.  We are leaving Don's house in TN on Saturday morning and hopefully we all can spend some time with Jacob on Sunday.  Russell and group may get some time on Saturday. I know there were tears here, I can only imagine his parents and Allissa!  Hopefully this all works like it's supposed too!  Jacob called his parents and let them know he is still RCPO of his division, which means he'll be in the front with a sword. He also has promoted to E2 already! So proud of our grandson! Can't wait until we see him!  Doug, guess I'll have to wait to see Illinois!

If anyone  wants to watch the graduation it's Friday at 0945 eastern time.  Here's a link for live stream..navylive.dodlive.mil

Here we are in beautiful Cornersville, TN at Don and Dana's lovely home.  We are enjoying each other's company for sure.  WE arrived around lunchtime on Sunday the 8th.  When we got here the weather was absolutely beautiful so we sat on the back deck enjoying the scenery.  Once it cooled we went inside and Dana made a delicious dinner for all.  She is an excellent cook for sure! We were up close to midnight talking!
On the way to Nashville, TN

The famous Bat Building

Flags are half mast for the victims of the Nashville tornadoes!

The growth in Nashville is incredible! Not in a good way
in my opinion :(

We know we're almost to Don's when we see The Tennessean
Truck Stop

Homes on the way..

Love this barn!

We know where we turn!

This house always looks the same

Love how the lawn is greening up..rain today..

Monday morning once we got going, which was late morning Ken and I headed for Walmart for a few things and a few errands.  It was windy so not conducive to sitting outside, but we enjoyed the afternoon with Don and Dana.  Again, another awesome dinner! Delicious apricot pork, mashed potatoes and corn. Perfect comfort food for sure!  Another midnight night! LOL.

Tuesday morning we actually set the alarm so we wouldn't miss the morning! haha. We wanted to visit Tenn South Distillery, a tradition every time we're in the area.  Don took us on a lovely ride to Lynnville, TN and we bought a bit there. Don was going to the feed store, but it was raining so he decided against it for the moment.  We meandered some of the back roads, but with the rain not many pictures were taken today.  Eventually we were back home and this afternoon's been a mix of light and heavy rain. I've been in the trailer as i wanted to make Ken's banana bread and my flourless cookies. I needed to get caught up on the blog too. As we all know we got too long and then it gets forgotten. haha. Ken and Don just headed for the feed store and I'm getting this done.
Another package for Seth..mailed today!

The days are flying that's for sure and soon  we'll be heading home.  Ken's got an appointment on the 8th of April so we want to be home a few days before.

Saturday the 7th of March we made a visit to THE OCTAGON HALL.  The KOA host told Ken about it so we thought why not, it was less than 20 miles out.  The house was built in 1847, not totally finished until 1859. What a place! There are tunnels and closets all used to hide Confederate soldiers from the Union side. It's also supposed to be one of the most haunted places in the South.  It quite a wonderful place to visit and spend a few hours. $5.00 cash donation per person, and well worth it! You can read about it here:  www.octagonhallmuseum.com  I admit, I went a little...well, alot crazy with pictures..so be forewarned!!

Octagon Hall

The flag was made by Samuel Jackson's wife and then given
to the Daughters of the American Revolution who then donated
it to Octagon Hall.  Very impressive!

Rugs in the house are original..

Wall paper is original too..

A small area where they would hide soldiers..

I love some of the paintings they had in the house.

Definitely an octagon house

The last 2 years termites got this original structure..The 501c3
will be looking for donations to restore it

More wall paper..

Lighting..

Steep steps..This led to what was called the "Gals Room"..Stairs were
in the Master Bedroom on the first floor with no 2nd floor access.
It was hoped the Master could protect the girls from harm.

The yellow cabinet..
